It's morning in America, here at the J. W. Marriott. The Conservative Summit may have lost CSPAN to the antiwar protests, but the summit is still an event — I know that because we're being liveblogged . We even have Jonah goatee reports.
Rich and Newt Gingrich opened the morning — Newt saying to those who are asking him to run here If you're so desperate for someone...find someone. He reminded us why he's so great to have in the 2008 mix one way or another — he's an ideas man with a real endearing wonky sense about him.
The quote in the subject line is from Paul Ryan, who thank God is in Congress. He made clear in his opening remarks that Iraq is not the reason Republicans lost in November and that Republicans lost in November may be a good thing (had better be).
