Brownback Backtracks   [John Derbyshire]

I think Brownback's reversal on that atrocious Senate immigration bill is a major straw in the wind. Out on the stump, these guys—who thought about immigration for about ten minutes total in the previous 60 years of their lives—are getting an earful from conservative voters.

I can't believe how far the issue has come in just a couple of years. Even birthright citizenship is in play. Seems like only yesterday you were being read out of polite society just for mentioning it.
