THE Iraqi port city of Basra, already prey to a nasty turf war between rival militia factions, has now been gripped by a scary rumour – giant badgers are stalking the streets by night, eating humans.
The animals were allegedly released into the area by British forces.
Local farmers have caught and killed several of the beasts, but this has done nothing to dispel the rumour.
Me: I can't believe Pelosi would leave Iraqis to be devoured by the badgers. Also, if local farmers have caught and killed several of these giant man-eating badgers, why on earth would the reporter think this would dispel the rumors? If I heard a rumor that giant man-eating badgers were devouring people where I live and then I heard that some of the badgers had been caught and killed, I wouldn't take that for proof the rumors were untrue, would you?
