Re: Quit it, Kathleen [Mark Steyn]
Agreed, Jonah. In that Hyacinth Girl piece I linked to earlier, she puts it this way:
I know that there are too many absolute nutballs on the internet who apparently like to send death threats to Kathleen Parker, but being in the conservative commentary business is never going to make you homecoming queen... How can anyone claim that dissenting ideas are frowned upon if one reads any of the dust-ups caused by gleeful contrarian John Derbyshire? He, I assume, enjoys job security and a lively inbox, and yet I've never heard him bitch and moan about it in column after column after column.
For some reason, perhaps because readers assume there's a single e-mail address for the entire British Commonwealth, I occasionally get sent a bit of Derb's hate-mail, and it seems to wash off him like water off the proverbial duck or Hitler jibes off the proverbial Bush. By the way, here's one of my favorite hate-mails:
I hope that during one of your commutes between Quebec and Vermont, you have one of those fantastically horrific car crashes that make all the headlines. You know the type: where you are decapitated and the head is never found.
But surely it would be found where it usually is — with its lips planted to the Bushitler's posterior?
