A Saturday Note to Dartmouth Alums   [Peter Robinson]

As you know, voting on a undemocratic new alumni constitution is now taking place. Those who favor the proposed document—that is, those who wish to entrench the College establishment, protecting the status quo from the challenges it would have to face if alumni were permitted genuine democracy—have already spent tens of thousands of dollars on their campaign. Slick mass mailings. Massive emailings. Pre-recorded telephone messages. Washington political consultants. Even a telephone “push-poll” to thousands of Dartmouth women and men.

Yet as of this morning, those of us who oppose the undemocratic new constitution may take heart. Why? Because some unknown David—almost certainly, I think, a current undergradate at the College—has stepped forward, pulled out his sling, and hit Goliath right between the eyes.
