Rove Commentary   [Ramesh Ponnuru]

Fred Barnes: "Rove is the greatest political mind of his generation and probably of any generation." Of any generation? So he's the greatest political mind who ever lived?

Barnes also writes, "Rove regrets the White House didn't force a few troubled Republican incumbents to retire, but that would have made little difference in the outcome of the election." If Conrad Burns had been pushed out in Montana, Republicans would probably have held his Senate seat and kept the majority there—and had extra resources to use in Virginia and Missouri, where the races were tight.

The editors of the Wall Street Journal, commenting on Rove's political track record, write: "President Bush won 44% of the Hispanic vote in 2004. . ." Are they just trying to annoy me?
