re: 'this shtick'   [Kathryn Jean Lopez]

(Mark and I posted at about the same time. Sorry for the odd way that makes the discussion read.)

We've long referred to The Corner — or at least I have, and readers frequently do — as a conservative watercooler. There is no real NRO watercooler — most of us are scattered about. But if we had one, we'd have lots of debates there. Others might frequently nod their heads in agreement as someone holds court, adding comments to a generally agreed-upon line of argument. Sometimes you'd pull a random friend or not-so-random expert into the discussion. There would be lulls. There would be days when no one would shut up. Sometimes Obama would be the topic. Other times, a convervative would be criticized. Someone would say something others think is ridiculous now and again (and again). But I certainly would have no interest in being anywhere around the watercooler if dismissing these men were a shtick. I don't think it is. 

And, yes, I'd have Mark Levin's book by the watercooler.
