PC   [Andrew Stuttaford]

Jonah, I have never said that those who disagree with Professor Myers should give him a free pass. I suggested they should argue back. I also said that if his customers (those paying, one way or another, the tuition) have every right to complain and, if they feel strongly enough, to take their business elsewhere. As free passes go, that's pretty expensive. What I do think, however, is that the culture of 'speech codes' is bad, destructive and an invaluable weapon in the hands of those who want to see less freedom in America, not more. I'd like to think that consevatives were in the business of ending speech codes, not validating them. I'd also hope that Professor Myers would agree that such codes are, for the most part, abhorrent.
