re: Bonnie Newman   [Kathryn Jean Lopez]

All night and morning, folks have been telling me that Gregg's replacement is pro-choice. Some of them may be reading into the descriptions of her as "moderate" or the fact that she supported a Democrat for governor (though the latter seems like it could have other explanations). Drew Cline, at the Union Leader in Manchester says over e-mail (reflecting some of his reporting there, too):

The only Republican candidates for House and Senate from outside New Hampshire she has donated to are Greg Walden and Olympia Snowe. In 1995 she backed Pete Wilson for President. Would a pro-life Republican have that record? I doubt it. She did give to Bush in 1999 and 2000 and McCain in 2008, but interestingly she did not contribute to Sununu's campaign last year.
