A Small Voice   [Lisa Schiffren]

What observer could disagree with Mark Steyn (on anything really) that the elusive "moderate Muslim" is a mythical character? After the wanton murder of the eight teenage Yeshiva students in Jerusalem about a month ago by a Palestinian, the fact that the Arab world seemed to celebrate the event, or even just ignore it —in its way more depraved — was a pretty depressing sign of the self-inflicted moral damage to their culture, by their leaders. Here however is a small, but humane Arab American voice — a nice writer too — expressing shame and calling for better. Normally I wouldn't note the piece. But it stands out in an empty field.
