A One-Term Pledge in the Offing?   [Rich Lowry]

Ramesh and Kate have been major advocates of McCain taking a one term pledge. First Read thinks that could be in the offing given McCain's 2013 emphasis. What jumped out at me was these lines:

I won't spend one hour of my presidency worrying more about my re-election than keeping my promises to the American people. There is a time to campaign, and a time to govern. If I'm elected President, the era of the permanent campaign will end. The era of problem solving will begin.

What better way to demonstrate that than a one-term pledge? (There are downsides to such a pledge too—the foremost being the way it would accent the age issue.)
