With Friends Like Jerry Nadler — The Congressman on Obama's Lack of Courage, etc. [Andy McCarthy]
K-Lo, sounds like Congressman Nadler should have thought twice about stopping by that synagogue in Boca.
As Kathryn notes, apparently diplomatic Change You Can Believe In consists of telling the Neo-Soviets that they can have their old satellites back if they just please, pretty please help us with Iran. The full exchange, recorded by Pamela Geller of Atlas Shrugs (who was in Boca grilling Nadler), is worth excerpting:
Nadler: We have not been willing to put our priorities properly. We have not been willing to say ... "Hey Russia, we won't expand NATO into the Ukraine and Georgia, right next to your borders, if you cooperate with us on Iran." ...I think Iran and Israel are a hell of a lot more important than expanding NATO to Russia's borders. Why should we? What do we need it for?
Audience member: Because they invaded Georgia.
Nadler: So let 'em invade Georgia. It's right next to them. Would we tolerate a foreign — a Russian army in Mexico? Which is more important to us Georgia or Israel, frankly?
Audience member: What is more important to us Czechoslovakia or Austria?
Nadler: That's a completely separate kind of question.
Right.
But that's not the half of it. As Geller also first reported, Nadler — apparently trying to "help" Obama — slammed The One because Obama "didn't have the political courage" to refute Jeremiah Wright and walk out of Trinity Church. At CBS, Jake Tapper has picked up the story with a full description of Nadler's foot-in-mouth performance.
Not content to leave it at that, Nadler went for the triple play. As Gellers reports, asked about Obama's foreign fund-raising operation, Nadler replied that if "there really were phone banks in Gaza, that would be a major campaign issue." If there really were phone banks? Congressman Nadler, meet Jim Geraghty. Or, if you're more comfortable, meet al Jezeera.
