RE: Obama's 'Conventional' Faith   [Mark Hemingway]

Regarding the Obama interview transcript I wrote about below, a reader makes a good point:

You made a few good observations.  As a guy who struggles to be a better Christian (meaning, me), I found this part interesting:

GG:
Do you believe in sin?

OBAMA:

Yes.

GG:
What is sin?

OBAMA:

Being out of alignment with my values.

Maybe I’m be hyper-sensitive because I’m trying to deeply commit to my faith, but when is sin a matter of going against human values?  Shouldn’t G-d be involved at some point?  At various points in the interview, I get the feeling that he’s not quite “getting it.”
