Beam Me Anywhere Else   [Mark Steyn]

Hey, Jonah, further to your recent post about William Shatner becoming Canada's Prime Minister, here's Jack Layton, the leader of the (socialist) New Democratic Party in full Trek spandex. I find him an insufferable fellow, but I have to say he looks pretty good in the Enterprise get-up — I like a little more Shatneresque static cling around the nipples myself, but he certainly wears it better than, say, Arlen Specter would. His wife, also an NDP Member of the Canadian Parliament, has a matching outfit.

As a commenter points out, the term "redshirt" arose from the original "Star Trek" to denote minor characters who get wiped out early in the battle. Alas, come election night, this never seems to quite happen to the NDP.
