Spitzer May Not Quit too Soon [David Freddoso]

Of course it’s quite possible, as cable chatter had it, that Eliot Spitzer is just thinking like the seasoned lawyer he is, by avoiding unilateral concessions.
Along those lines, I have heard in a couple of places now indications that Spitzer really was going to resign yesterday — that some of his people were putting out the word and everything. And then the lawyers got to him. Even if he is shown mercy, I hope no one lets him use the governorship as a bargaining chip.
The one benefit of all this is that we'll have at least a week of NY Post and Daily News headlines. Today's sample was disappointing, but there will be more opportunities to impress:
NY Post: "HO NO!" The online sub-head is much better: "New York's Naked Emperor!"
The Daily News wins for today: "PAY FOR LUV GUV"
