Tomorrow's Trial of Imprisoned Bahais in Iran   [Michael Rubin]

Roxana Saberi, a freelance journalist briefly imprisoned by the Islamic Republic prior to the elections, wrote a letter to the U.S. Comission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) about the plight of the seven imprisoned Bahais in Iran who face trial — and a possible death penalty — tomorrow. While in Evin prison, Saberi shared a cell with two of the Bahais.

The USCIRF's response — a call for the Bahais' release — is here.

The White House, at least so far, is quiet. Let's keep our fingers crossed that Obama isn't willing, in order to keep its engagement initiative alive, to turn away and remain silent as the Islamic Republic persecutes and, perhaps, murders religious minorities.
