But not the Patriot Act. A friend reminds me:
Craig was one of the big Republican opponents of the renewal of the Patriot Act based on its allegedly ruinous infringements on privacy rights. Maybe he should have stuck to the men's rooms in libraries. Anyway, he was a "SAFE act" sponsor — the unsuccessful alternative that was aimed at weakening the Patriot Act while telling people he was strengthening it. Here's one of the things his office put out.
