A Note on NR's Reception Tomorrow    [Jack Fowler]

National Review and Areva have long ago planned to hold a "Mardi Gras" reception on the first night of the Republican National Convention, with Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal as our special guest. Of course, things have now drastically changed: the governor is in his home state, preparing for the approaching hurricane. The planned reception will go on, muted and minus the original theme out of respect for the good folks of the Gulf Coast and the crisis they face. We wish Governor Jindal and other civil authorities godspeed, our prayers are with the citizens of the Gulf region, and National Review will be making a donation to the Red Cross to help the organization's efforts when it deals with the aftermath.
