Re: Republicans Who Hate Republicans   [Jonah Goldberg]

David — That newsbusters story is great. But not too surprising. I am amazed how many emails I get — particularly to my syndicated column address — where the reader insists that he's a lifelong Republican and/or conservative and that I should be ashamed for not supporting [insert Democratic cause du jure]. Sometimes there's almost the feel of a form letter to them. I don't know if this is an example of people independently concluding that this is the most effective way to hector conservative pundits or if it's the result of some seminar caller type agenda like we so often see on C-Span now. But it makes total sense that the New York Times would be locus for just such an effort. After all, fortunes have been made by the likes of Kevin Phillips, David Gergen, John Dean and others by exploiting precisely this weakness in the mainstream media.
