Democrats Discover T. Boone Pickens [Mark Hemingway]
On the energy debate, Democrats seemed to have suddenly discovered T. Boone Pickens — he recently met with Barack Obama and is speaking at Harry Reid's Clean Energy Summit. Because the legendary (and politically conservative) oil man is pushing hard for alternative energy and is adamant about not being dependent on foreign oil, Democrats seem to be under the impression he suddenly agrees with them on energy policy. However, it should be noted the Democrats' newfound enthusiasm for Pickens doesn't quite square with the fact that Pickens is in favor of offshore drilling and drilling in ANWR, the two main sticking points between Republicans and Democrats on energy policy.
