Rudy and McCain   [Rich Lowry]

I think they were the top finishers tonight, with Rudy getting the slight nod, but everyone did well. Rudy was excellent as always—forceful, lively, substantive. McCain was good as well, demonstrating his knowledge of the issues with a nice dose of humor. But Rudy feels fresher. Fred and Romney were fine, but Fred just isn't as lively or crisp as the others and Romney doesn't always seem to have the same kind of heft. Overall, it was a good, interesting debate that put most of the field in a flattering light.
