Thompson is Probably Right about America's Military   [David Freddoso]

Fred repeats his controversial line:

"This country has shed more blood for the liberty of other countries than all other countries put together."

The Washington Post  has tried to falsify this statement. First, they claim that the Soviets shed more blood to free other nations. But what idiot could possibly believe that the Soviets shed blood to free anyone

The alternative is the "British Commonwealth." So ANZAC and Indian soldiers — and even soldiers stolen by force from occupied Ireland — are to be counted as British? Well, that's interesting.

I'm not terribly impressed by Thompson tonight, but I'm totally amazed that WaPo would call his statement "jingoistic." They note that the Napoleonic wars cost three million lives, but few of the battles fought therein were examples of nations "liberating" other nations from anything.

And as for the older wars, I would imagine that previous wars in ancient times had far smaller death tolls, as populations were also much smaller, although I would defer to Victor Davis Hanson on this topic.
