Ensign of Hope? [Kathryn Jean Lopez]
I was talking earlier to a Beltway conservative who, like many, has been down since last Tuesday night (and was down way before last Tuesday night because he watched many Republicans create the mess that lead to the slaughter ). He was aggravated again yesterday when the Mel Martinez news came down. And yet, he is a little bit of an optimistic guy. He says: "I do have high hopes for John Ensign taking over the NRSC. He will run that thing, not this part time crap from Martinez, and he is brilliantly conservative, great on fiscal issues, good on immigration, life, etc. I would not be surprised to see him just take charge of things, take back from the RNC."
