Some Explaining to Do   [Mark R. Levin]

Yes, Fred Thompson will have to explain his support for McCain-Feingold as George Will mentions here, but when will Will, ever the constitutional watchdog, explain his support for a candidate, Rudy Giuliani, whose record includes this, this, and this?

As for McCain-Feingold, Rudy was once (and still is?) a strong proponent.  As the Club for Growth has written: "Rudy Giuliani's record on protecting political free speech falls woefully short. When John McCain launched his campaign finance crusade on the political stage, Mayor Giuliani was an unabashed supporter, telling CNN's Wolf Blitzer in a 2000 interview: 'I'm a very, very strong supporter of campaign finance reform. A very strong supporter of McCain-Feingold for a long, long time now.'"

Rudy's record respecting these issues is the least faithful to the Constitution.  Of course, I will vote for him against any of the Democrats because they're much worse.  But Will stands on shaky ground when he uses the Constitution as a yardstick for measuring the candidates given his endorsement of Rudy.  Even Rudy understands this, which is why he surrounds himself with Ted Olson, Larry Thompson, Miguel Estrada, and others who have distinguished originalist credentials, and why he wants to focus on national security and tax cuts (his greatest strength).
