Hypocrisy Fun For Everyone   [Jonah Goldberg]

From some readers:

Using the relaxed standard, are you a hypocrite to support women's rights (Violence Against Women's Act) if you are a serial sexual harasser?  How about pushing for tax increases if you pay only the amount the law requires and do not voluntarily pay more?  What about pushing for gun control when you have a license to carry a concealed weapon or use armed body guards?  No school vouchers when your own kids are in private schools?   Propose wind power but not in view of your own home?  Stop driving SUV's while living in 20k square foot home?  This is fun!

 And:

I suppose all these people would say that you're a hypocrite if: 1) you are having an extramartial affair; and 2) you don't support polygamy.

And:

You are correct in that it's perfectly possible to be against gay marriage and be a homosexual.

It's also perfectly possible to be homosexual but vote against extension of hate crimes or discrimination legislation to include sexual orientation.

It's not really possible, however, to be homosexual and embrace the religious-conservative demonization of homosexuals as deviants, mental defectives, and crass sinners.  Craig's embrace of and pandering to the various "values" and "family" conservative organizations, is hypocritical, regardless of whether the voting calendar gave him opportunities to express hatred of gays in ways that measured up to the nature of the base he appealed to.
