I think your post should have said:
Short version: Beauchamp stands by his story, and we are standing by him.
TNR is quite clear that in an "unmonitored conversation" he "continued to stand by every aspect of his story." They aren't just blaming the Army for leaking. They are saying the Army coerced him to recant, and imply the soldiers the Army didn't talk to (but they did) will corroborate their story.
They are doubling down on their bet.
