How to Carry California   [Mark Krikorian]

In a piece in today's Politico about McCain's prospects in California, the fourth point is "Obama favors giving driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants. McCain opposes it, and this could give McCain the state." That result would, of course, be hilarious, given that McCain's enthusiasm for open borders may well exceed Obama's, though I'm skeptical that McCain will be willing exploit the issue sufficiently, if at all.

And will the driver’s license issue be a factor? Yes, said one Republican strategist who is close to the McCain campaign. “This is an issue that matters to people in California, and it is a big issues difference between Obama and McCain,” he said. “There is also the issue of how unpopular Obama is with Hispanics, broadly speaking.”

So, McCain could win because of a combination of duped immigration hardliners and Hispanics who dislike black people. Will the Senator denounce these supporters, too?
