Agreed, Jonah. The combination of self-pity and self-aggrandizement in that statement is most unattractive. The trouble with all this off-prompter stuff — the Special Olympics joke, the whining about everyone in Washington being a Simon Cowell wannabe — is that the glimpses of the unscripted Obama are disquieting in what they reveal.
And I'm not sure about that "somebody down the food chain" line, although I can see why you might think like that if Joe Biden's next in line.
