Re: All Hands on Deck   [Andy McCarthy]

Memo to Sen. McCain

Sir,

1.  Sen. Obama grabbed from the Fannie/Freddie trough with both hands.   As the presence in Washington of him and others similarly minded is what got us into this mess, please forgive my lack of pride in your accomplishment of goading him back there to do his night job.

2.  We need the right hands on deck more than we need all hands on deck.

3.  Please, please, please remember that "improvements" are things that make a bill better, while "consensus" (i.e., agreeing with some people who are dreadfully wrong just so you can say you achieved agreement) is something that makes a bill worse

If what you guys serve up is a substantive disaster, it will not be remembered as a success because it came with a pretty, bipartisan cherry on top.
