Robert Wexler, Obama Surrogate and Jew Baiter   [Jonah Goldberg]

This is beyond shabby:

Florida Democratic Congressman Robert Wexler of Florida came out swinging at Republican presidential candidate Senator John McCain immediately after he named Gov. Palin as her running mate. He accused her of backing 'Nazi sympathizer" Pat Buchanan in a previous election and said that Sen. McCain's choice was a "direct affront to all Jewish Americans."

Me: There's so much craptacularity here it's hard to know where to start. First for the record, the story explains this:

Gov. Palin explained that her alleged "support" of Buchanan consisted of her sporting a campaign button for him in 1999 when he visited the town of Wasilla when she was the mayor. Palin explained at the time she wore the button as a courtesy and that she was an official of the campaign of Republican presidential contender Steve Forbes.

Me (again): Also, I learned from Morning Joe that the Obama campaign has formally endorsed this line of attack.

Gawd. First, why hasn't Wexler boycotted MSNBC? They actually have the man he considers a "Nazi sympathizer" on the payroll? Why hasn't he condemned Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann for their friendly banter and backslapping with the man? How can the Obama campaign possiby have anything to do with this Nazi breeding ground ever again? What will Keith Olbermann do now that the fatwa has been issued about his colleague?

Also, how on earth can the Obamphiles ignore this outrageous and — sand-poundingly stupid — attempt at guilt by association while considering attacks on Bill Ayers and Jeremiah Wright as beyond the pale? Think about it.

Here's Newsbusters video of Joe Scarborough talking about it with Buchanan and some others (it is infuriating). I don't begrudge them defending Buchanan from the smear. But I think the greater outrages lie elsewhere. (Hint: That's my way of avoiding a debate about Buchanan who I think is of minimal importance and a distraction).

Update: Oh and just for the record, Palin ain't no Buchananite on Israel or Jews.
