Mitt Romney's Press Shop Jumps the Shark [John Podhoretz]
Today I received a press release from Mitt Romney's Press Shop headlined: "ROMNEY FOR PRESIDENT EXPLORATORY COMMITTEE LAUNCHES OFFICIAL FACEBOOK PROFILE." Facebook, in case you don't know, is a website with lots of different Internet communities on it. That's just dandy, Romney Press Shop (which is what appears in the "From" line on my e-mail).
But to be honest, Romney Press Shop, color me skeptical that Mitt Romney actually spoke these words you claim he spoke: "I am pleased to be the first potential 2008 Republican presidential candidate to have an official Facebook profile."
Yes, just imagine the conversation at Romney Central.
Romney Press Shop: Governor, you now have an official Facebook profile!
Romney: You don't say! I am pleased to be the first potential Republican presidential candidate to have an official Facebook profile!
Romney Press Shop: Can I quote you on that?
Memo to Romney Press Shop: You're sending out too many press releases.
