Re: Lebanon & “The Tank” [Kathryn Jean Lopez]
I was going to wait until a decent hour on Monday morning to bring readers’ attention to “The Tank” Lebanon issue again but since everybody is working for the weekend, I’ll weigh in tonight. Delay does no one any favors, especially the truth.
Just so I am clear: Some sloppy reporting appeared on “The Tank.” I apologize for that. Period.
I said more on Friday and Smith said more on Friday because I wanted you to know how these mistakes were made, to the best of my understanding. Don’t mistake any scene-setting for excuse-making.
And for the record: Questions were brought to my attention in November and we addressed them in November.
We are taking a look at the Smith archive and will give you a full assessment in the coming days because we owe that to our readers.
