A Modest Proposal for McCain   [Peter Wehner]

Bill Kristol has a clever column in today's New York Times which also makes an argument worth considering: Senator McCain ought to make the 110 Congress, which under the control of Democrats has set a record for unpopularity (barely cracking double digits at times), an issue in the last 100 days of the presidential campaign. McCain might explain, in fairly specific details, what an Obama-Reid-Pelosi America would look like, and cost, Americans - from defeat in places like Iraq, to higher taxes, to no oil drilling, to no restrictions on abortion, to greater restrictions on the second amendment, to much else. This argument won't carry the day - but it could help by reminding voters what Obama's version of "change" might look like. If McCain can link Obama to one of the most distrusted and disrespected institutions in American life today - namely, the Democratically-controlled Congress - it would probably boost McCain's chances.
