Joe Klein's Bedpan Obsession   [John Podhoretz]

Today, Joe Klein blogs that he wants Scooter Libby to be sentenced to emptying bedpans at Walter Reed. It's up to you whether you consider this scorching satire, or the anguished howl of a properly enraged man, or a mad-as-Hell rant, or maybe perhaps an act of regular guy posturing. Whatever. But then something tickles your memory. You recall Klein demanding a few weeks ago that Pete Wehner of the White House, who has committed the grave offense of sending out articles favorable to the president's positions and offering critiques of Democratic attacks on Bush, should spend his years following his decision to leave public service by...emptying bedpans at Walter Reed. Again, perhaps the repetition of this righteous call-out is a mark of Joe Klein's commitment to this concept. Or maybe he is just...obsessed with bedpans?
