Giuliani on Mexico City [Ramesh Ponnuru]
I commented last night on Rep. Pete Sessions's pro-life case for Giuliani, saying, among other things, that I would like to know where he stands on our policy of not giving family-planning funds to groups that promote or perform abortions overseas. It turns out Giuliani told Laura Ingraham, on her show in May, that he would "maintain" the policy. I don't know if he has ever said that he would veto attempts to weaken or abolish it, as President Bush has promised. (For that matter, I am not aware if he has pledged to veto legislation to weaken the Hyde amendment, which blocks the federal government from funding most abortions here at home.)
