Immigration Shorts   [Mark Krikorian]

* A politician finally gets it: "They set up a false choice — either we get giant busloads of people tomorrow, and round them all up, or we have to grant amnesty. Attrition by enforcement is what makes the most sense." — Fred Thompson

* Steve Malanga from City Journal poured some cold water on the Hispanic vote hysteria.

* Rod had an item excerpting another blogger's query: "Couldn't some illegal immigration critic begin a supermarket that would sell 'citizen-produced' products or housing tracts built only by citizen-contractors? How about a fast food chain with only citizen-produced ground beef and chicken nuggets? Would our consumers flood them, in spite of the higher prices?" Of course, the issue here isn't citizenship, but legal status, but it turns out there is indeed something like this: ProAmerica Companies.

* Borjas linked to an "art" project in the Arizona desert that provides passing illegal aliens with water, shade — and internet access!
