Santorum Endorses Hoffman   [Kathryn Jean Lopez]

Rick Santorum is a regular guest host for Bill Bennett on the radio. This morning he’s on and just said, first about New Jersey:

A vote for Daggett is a vote for Corzine. . . .

And then he moved onto the Empire State and endorsed Hoffman:

It’s a different case in NY-23 . . . the Republican seems to be . . . falling apart. . . . The Republican candidate has been in the process of disqualifying herself. . . . You’re not throwing your vote away on [Hoffman]. . . . This is a race that we need to win. . . . The best change for a conservative . . . a Republican . . . to win this race . . . is Doug Hoffman.

The former senator added: “I was a Republican before I was a conservative.”

And as some of you would not be surprised to know and would remind me if he didn’t say it, he added:

I’ve never endorsed a . . . a third-party candidate.” But: “I . . . want to win.” He finished: “The conservative has a better chance of winning”
