RE: THE CRUISE   [Kate O'Beirne]

Although everything wasn't shipshape on board, neither the chronic engine problems nor the election results dampened the spirits of our 450 guests who were unfalingly cheerful and engaged.  They appeared to attribute many of the GOP losses to the betrayal of the conservative principles they strongly support.  Although we had multiple sessions whenever we weren't in ports, the only complaint was a desire for more panels, more discussions, more, more more. .  .  The itinerary was adjusted owing to "propulsion problems" with the port engines (we fittingly travelled only with the right side of the ship functioning properly) our guests didn't mind a bit - they typically explain that they would join the cruise for the conversations and fine company regardless of where it was headed.  Lots of newcomers joined old friends on this cruise and it seemed everyone I talked with is already looking forward to the Alaska cruise in July.  Next time we should have a "Ship to Shore" blog with lots of daily postings so those unable to join us would get some flavor of NR at sea.
