the Rutger's women's basketball team [Kathryn Jean Lopez]
I'm not rallying behind them either, JPod.
How refreshing would it have been if when asked about the comments, the team, or a bright young woman spokesman among them said, "Who? We don't listen to Don Imus and we don't really care what a nasty shock jock has to say — whether it be about us, politics, or anything else. We've got a game to play on Friday and that's what we're worried about right now, to be honest."
Instead they're on some kind of victimization tour. (Not all their fault, I assume they didn't call Oprah, Oprah called them.)
By the way: The single-worst aspect of what Imus did, if you ask me, is go on Al Sharpton's radio show. Al Sharpton should not be able to hold his head high in public, particularly this week, in wake of the Duke case being dropped. I see Imus is now fighting back and wants Sharpton to apologize to the Duke guys. Yeah, too late, Imus. You're the one who propped up Sharpton, now some kind of arbiter of decency and morality on the radio(!).
What Imus said on his radio show was stupid and mean, not unlike other things he's been saying on the radio for years. Going on Al Sharpton's show though, made a real harmful contribution to America, in one-shot.
