E-mail From a N.H. Romney Guy [Rich Lowry]
Rich –
I think you’ve missed a few things with your Secret Plan.
First – The Mayor has advertised here in New Hampshire – not only on the radio, but he has also dropped several mail pieces.
Second – According to Real Clear Politics, in December the Mayor led Governor Romney by double digits – the Mayor was well known in the State going into the race. It was Governor Romney who had to make up ground.
What’s happening is that New Hampshire residents are responding to the Governor’s message and his commitment to play in New Hampshire.
Specifically, New Hampshire residents are talking about Governor Romney’s plan to curtail illegal immigration (while the Mayor has a track record of welcoming illegal aliens to New York City – as a sanctuary city). Residents like Governor Romney’s commitment to lower taxes – as evidenced by the positive response the Governor received last Friday in the North Country when he rolled out his plan to cut taxes on income from savings, dividends, and capital gains to 0% for middle class families.
And just as importantly, Governor Romney is working hard here. He is out meeting Granite Staters, taking their questions, and building an organization. According to the NH GOP Chairman, Fergus Cullen, Gov. Romney is running the most traditional New Hampshire campaign. Just last week in New Hampshire, Governor Romney did events in 11 towns, in 7 counties, and covered more than 500 miles.
We all know that polls are just a snapshot of a moment in time. But Governor Romney is committed to doing the things necessary to be successful in New Hampshire.
