More Matter, Less Art   [John Derbyshire]

Pah! It's just the old leftist shtick. "Anti-semitism is the socialism of fools". If you succumb to racism, you're just making it easier for what Obama calls "the real culprits: a corporate culture rife with inside dealing, questionable accounting practices, and short-term greed; a Washington dominated by lobbyists and special interests; economic policies that favor the few over the many."

"In the white community, the path to a more perfect union means acknowledging that what ails the African-American community does not just exist in the minds of black people; that the legacy of discrimination and current incidents of discrimination, while less overt than in the past — are real and must be addressed …"

As a member of the, uh, white community, what I'm hearing here is: "You white folks haven't been trying hard enough to be fair to us. You must do more!" OK, Senator, what shall we do to be saved?

"… Not just with words, but with deeds — by investing in our schools and our communities; by enforcing our civil rights laws and ensuring fairness in our criminal justice system; by providing this generation with ladders of opportunity that were unavailable for previous generations."

"Investing in our schools"? Like we did in Kansas City? "By enforcing our civil rights laws"? Which ones are not being enforced? By "ensuring fairness in our criminal justice system"? So our police and judges are acting unfairly? But lots of them are black — in some cities, including the nation's capital, an actual majority. Are they acting unfairly, too? Where do you get off insulting our law enforcement and judicial personnel, Senator? "By providing this generation with ladders of opportunity"? What, like affirmative action? We already have that. We've had it for thirty years.

Blame whitey, and raise high the red flag of socialism. This is a serious candidate for the Presidency? Toast, toast.
