Well said, Derb. I take it that — at the level of military strategy — General McChrystal agrees with you. By the way, I think rousting al-Qaeda from Afghanistan and toppling the Taliban were "significant results." Plus, don't forget by the end of 2004 the country was pacified. I suspect if we'd been in a better position to respond to the Taliban resurgence that began in 2006, we'd be hearing less of the Afghanistan-is-inevitably-lost talk now.
